Calf Concerns

The medial calf (on the inside of your lower leg) is the most common area where people experience issues. People often mention whilst running they feel a ‘cramp’ or ‘pop’ followed by immediate discomfort. Most often, this is a muscle strain caused by prolonged tightness. To prevent this problem, stretch your calves regularly. Correct stretching will also reduce neural tone (nerve tightness) and help improve muscle elasticity. For serious athletes, it’s also essential to maintain a program of progressive strengthening exercises, relative to the demands of the activity you are performing.
